Bill and Rhonda from Big Cormorant did well at the Leech Lake Regatta in Walker, MN recently taking 2nd place, behind Mike Osby in their division, and taking 3rd place overall in their fleet. Mike took 2nd overall, so the DL area boats did really well.

The Gull Lake Regatta was held on the beautiful Gull Lake by Brainerd MN the first weekend in August. The turnout was good, we had 5 boats in the E fleet, (BC-1 and BC-8 from Big Cormorant), along with Dan Sprouls in his Johnson 18 from Big Cormorant.

The winds were without doubt the heaviest of the year, hardware began to break on several boats, and after a few had capsized, they called the race for most of the fleets on the second day, only the E fleet finished all 5 races.

As always, the Gull Lake Regatta was a fun time, very good competion and of course, . . . . miniature golf.

The Wallworks Regatta was held at the end of July on Pelican Lake and featured 23 boats in three classes, with 11 in the Open fleet, 7 in the C fleet, and 5 in the E fleet.

Big Cormorant Sailing Club had an excellent turnout and with recored breaking temperatures, the winds were still favorable for some great races.

Pelican Lake Yacht Club hosted the event providing entertainment by the Purple Pan People, a steel drum band. Saturday night's social and dinner at the Yacht Club, we enjoyed a pig roast meal with entertainment provided by Poco Fuego, MSUM’s steel drum ensemble.
